This is perhaps the most important festival for the region. Many people take part in the procession for the Virgin of Portal (who is the patron saint of Ribadavia) and accompany the faithful and devout to follow the local band (an orchestra formed by students but now including professionals).

The previous day the road is elaborately decorated with flower petals. These festival are celebrated in the month of September, usually between the 7 and 11, with the 9 being the date of the local festival.
In the area there are also many attractions for the young people, such as musical concerts in the town square and other areas. There are also a great many sporting activities, such as ´balonmano´, or handball and a football tournament.
