Origin
Ribeiro wine comes from the Ourense area of the three rivers: Miño,
Avia and Arnoya. Its vineyard are located in large fields with temperate
and wet weather, but very rich in organic matter.
In other words, the topology makes the vineyards less productive but
of a higher quality of it.
The annual rainfall is about 890/m2. Origin Ribeiro 3000 hectares
of leafy green vinyards distributed between the following townships:
Castrelo de Miño, Arnoya, Beade, Ribadavia, Carballeda de Avia,
Cenlle, Cortegada, Leiro, Punxín and part of Boborás,
Ourense, Carballiño and Toén. The variety of grapes
are divided to eight white types: treixadura, torrontés, loureira,

godello,
albariño, alvilla, macabeo and palomino, and the seven red:
brancellao, ferrón, sousón, caíño, mencía,
tempranillo and garnacha.
White grapes represents 80 per cent of the production.
At presents 55 per cent of the Ribeiro production is sold in Galician,
35 per cent goes to other parts of Spain, for example Madrid, Barcelona
and Bilbao, and the last 10 per cent goes elsewhere in Europe and
to Latin America.
